Bio

Iñaki Aguilar is a Mexican film director, writer, and producer based in Madrid. He studied filmmaking at the University of Westminster, graduating with First Class Honours for academic excellence.

In 2024, he directed his debut feature film Lujuria, a low-budget psychological horror exploring the intersections of desire, religion, repression, and power. Shot in Spain, the film has circulated internationally across Europe and Latin America, including selection at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival (Brigadoon section), one of the world’s leading festivals for genre cinema.

Lujuria has accumulated 10+ awards for Best Feature Film, including recognition at the Bogotá Horror Film Festivaland the Galacticat Festival Internacional de Cinema de Tàrrega i Ponent, confirming Aguilar as an emerging voice in contemporary arthouse horror. The film has also screened in international festivals across Tokyo, Athens, Mumbai, Mexico City, and New York, reflecting a growing global presence.

Alongside his film work, Aguilar writes fiction under the pseudonym Cruz del Castillo, author of the novels Corpus Christi, Texas and American Homosexual, literary works that echo the themes of faith, sexuality, exile, and identity present in his cinema.

His practice moves between auteur cinema, psychological horror, and queer portraiture, building an international body of work connecting Spain, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
